Happy Monday, Cats! Just a reminder that Spirit Week starts today!

🎉 Fun Fact Friday! 🎉
Did you know that this year we’re celebrating Edison’s 70th anniversary? Opened in 1954 as an elementary school, Edison officially became a middle school in 1956! To mark this special occasion, we’re hosting a spirit week and school-wide coin wars, plus sharing some amazing Edison memories throughout the week. Let’s show our school spirit and make this celebration one to remember! 🤍

This weeks Teacher Feature is starting Mrs. McKay! We're so excited to have her as part of the Edison community!!

Congratulations to our October Students of the Month! These exceptional students have demonstrated true leadership and a commitment to the Edison DREAM. Their hard work, positive attitudes, and willingness to support their peers make our school community stronger. We are so proud of their accomplishments!

Take a look at this lively and vibrant artwork! Mrs. Fogarty’s art classes truly embraced the concept of a “glow up" and had so much fun making creations with black lights! We have some incredibly talented students at Edison. A big thank you to Mrs. Fogarty and her students for brightening our hallways!

As the fall sports season at EMS wraps up, there’s still time to catch some exciting action this week and next! It’s been an incredible season filled with some truly awesome moments! Don’t miss out!

As they explore the fascinating world of symmetry, they can incorporate vibrant colors and intricate designs, which will make their creations even more special.

Students from Edison's Očéti Šakówiŋ Owáuŋspe class participated in the Sioux Falls Native American Day Parade yesterday! Our talented students and their families showcased the rich culture and history of our community with pride and enthusiasm. Their representation of Edison and the Sioux Falls School District made for a truly unforgettable celebration!

Good Morning, Cats! Here is your weekly sports lineup.

Reminder we have no school on Monday 10/14 and Tuesday 10/15

Our 8th graders had a fantastic field trip to SDSU yesterday, where they explored college life, learned about various programs and majors, and enjoyed hands-on activities at an activities fair. It was a wonderful day for everyone! Thank you to The Promising Futures Fund for making these amazing experiences possible for our students. For more details on Promising Futures and the opportunities they provide, check out their website https://promisingfuturesfund.org/

Today, we're excited to highlight the diverse range of clubs available at Edison! Whether you're into cooking, gaming, babysitting, or playing guitar, we have something for everyone. A huge thank you to the YMCA for their invaluable partnership in making these clubs possible.

Student Spotlight!
A big shout-out to 6th grade student Alexis! Today, she received a positive bus referral for a kind act on the school bus. When the bus was busy and crowded, Alexis noticed another student in need and offered them a seat without hesitation! We are beyond proud of the kindness and compassion she displayed! Keep shining, Alexis, you make us proud every day! 🌟

As fall weather rolls in and cooler temps arrive, it’s a good time to remind students to check the lost and found. We’ve already seen quite a few items collected! The lost and found is conveniently located outside the art room by the south bus doors and also in the main office. Please encourage your student to take a moment to look for any missing belongings. Thanks for your help!

Happy Custodian Appreciation Day! Whether it’s tackling biohazards, spilled juice, crunched takis, or turning into snow-removal ninjas, they handle it all with a smile and a “can-do” attitude! No mess too gross, no task too tough – our custodians get the job done! 💪
Ms. Stassi and Ms. Mason's classes made special gifts and cards to show our custodians just how special they are to us. Thank you to Mike, Cam, Derrik, Jai, Chance and Matt for making our school sparkle!

This Friday, October 4th is PICTURE RETAKE DAY! If your student is in need of retakes OR missed the first picture day, please send the picture envelope or order form with them to school. We will call students down for retakes in the morning. If your student needs another order form, we do have extra in the main office. You can also preorder photos by following the link below.

Let's take another moment to celebrate the tremendous success of our Color Run! A huge shout out to the PTO, parent volunteers, and staff for their hard work and dedication. It’s wonderful to see such strong community support at Edison. We have exceeded our $10,000 goal and are now close to $15,000! Words cannot express our gratitude to our Edison Families. Thank you to everyone that made this amazing event possible, Go Cats! 🐾
