Here are the High Flyers for this past week! We are proud of you!! Thanks for working hard!

Students learned about the solar eclipse during Family last week and they were all very excited to
watch it on Monday! Unfortunately, it was very cloudy during our viewing party so we were only able to catch a very small glimpse of it. They still had fun making memories and wearing their protective glasses.

The March Madness Reading Challenge in Miss Leloux's 3rd grade class was a slam dunk success! Students were divided into 8 teams of 3 and then put in a bracket to face different challengers during the 3 week competition. Thanks to the students for their hard work and extra reading at home! The top three students each read over 2,500 minutes each. The winners and top readers earned prizes and the class had a celebration party. Way to go!

The inaugural ACE/Holy Spirit Elementary Chess Tournament is in the books! Congratulations to all our competitors and a special thanks to all our parents who came out to support! The final score of the tournament was Holy Spirit: 21.5 and ACE: 8.5.
We are so proud of all our Chess Club students. They have grown and developed so much as chess players and as young people over the year. Both schools agreed we should do the inter-school chess tournament again next year, so we look forward to another great opportunity next spring!
This brings Chess Club to a close for this school year. We look forward to another great experience next school year! ♟️♟️♟️
Big thank you to our chess master, Dave, and our parent volunteer who runs Chess Club, Anthony Pizer, for their time and dedication!

Happy National School Librarian Day! Thank you to Krystine Reavis for all you do for our students at Jane Addams as our librarian. Thank you also to Kristi Weiland for her help during library as well!

🗳️ Help shape the future! Five candidates are vying for two open seats on the Sioux Falls School Board. Learn about them and make time to get to the polls on Tuesday, April 9, 2024. https://www.sf.k12.sd.us/page/elections

Happy Paraprofessionals Day! We appreciate all that you do to help our students and teachers! You rock!!

Students earned a Gum Day for earning enough tickets as a school in March!! You all "blew" us away with how hard you worked! They all loved it!

Safety Patrol is an after school service the 4th and 5th graders rotate and provide to help with pick up. They do an excellent job keeping the flow of traffic moving and getting kids into cars safely. The third graders are now getting the opportunity to be trained by them so they can help next year. Thanks to Mrs. Gray and Miss Nelson for checking in on safety patrol roles and to parent volunteer, Brandon Riss, for organizing the schedule every week. Thanks to parents for being flexible in picking up their child on patrol a little later after school as well.

SFSD wants your feedback! Our annual parent/guardian survey is now open through Friday, April 19, 2024. Check your email for an active link and share your experiences with us as partners in your child's education! https://survey.k12insight.com/r/6HS2G1

Miss Nelson’s 4th graders have been busy learning about all things water! They went to the Sioux Empire Water Festival and learned about the many uses of water and the importance of preserving its quality. Additionally, they participated in a virtual Quiz Bowl.

Miss Leloux's 3rd graders learned about volume and mass in math this past week. They got to measure liquid volume in milliliters and weighed different object in grams! They had lots of fun learning!!

Wow, our school did a lot of reading the month of March for the Everybody Reads Challenge!! Our district encouraged kids to fill in a rain drop for
each book they read! We had a total of 10,379 books read! Way to go!

ACE and EIC 3rd graders attended the SD Symphony on Monday. They got to hear beautiful songs that imitated animal sounds. The Great Plains Zoo even brought some animals to show the kids that went along with the music! It is a great experience for third graders because they get to decide if they would want to join the orchestra next year! Great time!

3rd graders went to Dow Rummel Assisted Living last Friday and sang their musical songs to the residents. They hung up rabbits on the resident's doors and stopped to say hello! What a great experience for all!

During Family, students got to read to a buddy!

Finding Nemo, Jr. musical was a huge success! The kids worked hard for months learning their parts, practicing their songs, and molding their personality into their character! It is so incredible to see their talents shine! Thanks, kids, for all of your hard work and dedication!! To our volunteers and staff, WOW! Every year you knock it out of the park and "just keep swimming" through any hiccups along the way! From the sets, to makeup, to costumes, to playbill, to sound/lights, to producing, to directing, to supervising, to any part to played to help, THANK YOU!!!!! These memories for these kids will last a lifetime! Thank you for your time and expertise in your area! It was another amazing show!!! Thanks to Sioux Falls First Church for hosting us! We concluded the musical with a cast party on Friday to celebrate the hard work of all! Until next year!!!!

Kids Care: 4th and 5th graders had all on site service projects for Kids Care this month. Students helped make tie blankets for Project Warm Up, picked up trash around the school, made cards for army soldiers and organized clothes in the donation room.
