Second graders and kindergarteners celebrated St. Patrick's Day with some yummy shamrock shakes!! Delicious fun!

The Science Club built volcanoes and experimented with vinegar, baking soda, pop rocks and food coloring to create lava. So cool!!!

Thanks for the support at School Store!

Last all school practice at school for Finding Nemo and it's all coming together nicely! We have dress rehearsal on Wednesday at the venue and then our two shows on Thursday! The 4th and 5th graders have been putting in lots of extra time after school too! Have you got your tickets yet? The kids have been working hard and it's going to be a great show!!

Science Club made aluminum foil boats and added pennies to see how many it took to sink their boat. They had so much fun and learned lots!

Congrats to these High Flyers!! We are so proud of all of you! Keep being responsible, respectful, and safe! We did these a day early since we do not have school on March 15!

Help get books the students want!!
As we get to the end of the year, we are trying to get the books the students want in their hands before the year ends. Unfortunately, we have some books that are very popular. In fact, they are so popular that the wait list is very long.
How long is the wait list?
That of course depends on the book. Currently, there are only 12 more times for library before all books must be turned in. One of our books has 17 students requesting it. Even if the students return the book every library time, we will not be able to get the book in their hands! This doesn't even include those students who need more than the 4 school days to read it or the issue of returning on a B day and the next one on the list is an A day student. (meaning it will be 4 school days before that A day student comes to the library to check out the book and return their previous ones.)
If you would be willing to help out, we would love extra copies of these popular books so everyone who wants a chance, can read the book.
What books are they??
The best place to check out what books the library needs is at:
https://mrsreavis.wixsite.com/jane-addams-library/how-to-help
Currently, our waitlisted books includes the ones in red on that page:
Monster Friends by Kaeti Vandorn (Need at least 2 copies)
Starla Jean: Which Came First: the Chicken or the Friendship? by Elana K. Arnold
Tag Team by Elaine Bay
If you could see it in your heart to give a copy, or even a few dollars so I can buy extra copies of the books, I'd appreciate it. Any help is much needed .
Thank you for considering,
Mrs. Reavis & Ms. Kristi

Last week the ACE and EIC 3rd graders had a special guest come and share his knowledge about the upcoming symphony they will be attending! They got a sneak peek into the songs and background of each they will hear at the SD Symphony soon! Thanks for
stopping by!

Spring is in the air! We are loving the beautiful weather and colorful bulletin boards! Many of these are designed and made (with teacher input) by our volunteers and always turn out so cute and interactive! Thanks for all of your help parents and volunteers! We also love the awesome student art!

Students keep working hard and practicing for the musical!! Our musical is on March 21! Tickets go on sale to the general public on Wednesday! Check back for the link if you would like to attend Finding Nemo tomorrow!

Congrats to our High Flyers this week! We are proud you were responsible, respectful, and safe!

Last Friday, we celebrated a PBIS reward by getting to dress up wacky!! Kids and staff could wear mismatched clothes, crazy hair, inside out clothes, backwards, etc. throughout the day! It was a fun time had by all!

Swimming is always a blast! The kids even got to watch some people practice scuba diving right next to them! How cool!

The All City 3rd-5th Chess Club Tourney wrapped up this week! Congrats to all of the winners! Thank you to Anthony Pizer for all of his help organizing this each week and to chess master, Dave, for his expertise!

The Science Club learned about water surface tension by dropping pennies into a full glass of water. They estimated the number of pennies that could be added before the water spilled out of the glass.

We did our High Flyers a day early so we could check to see if we earned a crazy dress up day by earning enough tickets for our next PBIS reward and we did!! Friday is the day to dress up silly, clothes inside out, backwards, inside out, etc. Congrats to our High Flyers this week! We are proud you were responsible, respectful, and safe!
