Have you seen the Tradition of Caring commercial on Keloland featuring some of our All City students and third grade teacher? This summer these individuals worked with the Sioux Falls Public Schools Education Foundation to celebrate 15 years of providing support to our Sioux Falls Public Schools! Miss Leloux and many other teachers from Jane Addams have written grants to provide extra opportunities for our students! Some of the grants Jane Addams have received over the years include VR (virtual reality) headsets, robots, dissection kits, science/STEM labs, games for Family, Outdoor Classroom materials, microscopes, Drumfit yoga balls, books, circuit building kits, laser mazes, magnatiles, marble runs, iPads, Osmos, Ozobots, handheld microscopes, coding materials, and so much more! We are so thankful for all these learning hands-on opportunities from Sioux Falls Public Schools Education Foundation over the years!!! Miss Leloux's third graders visited the assisted living residents at Dow Rummel last Friday afternoon. Students went around to their rooms to hang up Valentine's Day decorations and mingle with the residents. Afterwards, they went to the community room to do puzzles together. Both students and residents enjoy each other's company each month! What a great experience for these students!
The Jane Addams staff had their annual holiday gathering to share in some games, laughs, and fun! (Not all who were able to join made the group photo unfortunately) We appreciate all they do for the students and families at our school!
All City Musical will be here before we know it!! It's on March 21st performing Finding Nemo! Students are learning songs, practicing lines and starting to practice their dances, so now is the time to begin supporting our musical through sponsorship opportunities. Players and members of the Skyforce team came to Jane Addams on January 25th to promote our Jane Addams night at their game coming up on February 1! The players talked about ways to be responsible in school and to always work hard! They even got to show off their basketball skills with a dunk and lightning competition! It's game week in Family! Each family will rotate to another Family each day to get to practice good sportsmanship, leadership in teaching others how to play a game, have fun, build community, and learn how to play by the rules/be fair. The games were purchased using grant money from Sioux Falls Public Schools Education Foundation. Games included Otrio, Quick Cups, Shut the Box, Guess in 10, Spot It, and Perfection! So fun!

The second session of Science Club started on Wednesday. The students learned about circuits and then built one with aluminum foil, electrical tape, and batteries that they used to power a light bulb. So cool!

Last week, the 1st and 2nd graders in Science Club showed the kindergartners a bunch of the science experiments they have been doing! What a neat experience for all!
Our Chick-fil-A Community Care Fundraiser Event was a big success raising over $400 for our school! Thank you to all who came to eat or encouraged family and friends to brave the cold and help us out! Thanks Chick-fil-A for the donation from 25% of the sales!

This year our district adopted a new science curriculum called Amplify. Each quarter focuses on a new unit of study. The third graders have been learning about inheritance and traits. They created new offspring monsters based on the parent's genetic makeup! They had a lot of fun comparing how their monster offspring were similar and different even though they all had the same parents! It was a fun project and they learned
Kids were enjoying finally getting to get outside after all of this cold and enjoy the big snow hill!
