Here are our High Flyers for this week! We are proud of them for being responsible, respectful, and safe!

Swimming was so fun this month at Embe! So many smiles and laughs!

Members of the SD Symphony who are in the Dakota String Quartet performed for the Jane Addams third and fourth graders on January 4th. It was a beautiful engaging performance! Many students were excited to see the instruments they currently play in action and many future musicians expressed interest in learning to play one day! Thank you for coming to our school! It was so fun!

The Science Club kids learned about solubility and density by making a homemade lava lamp with oil, water, food coloring, and Alka-Seltzer! The kids loved it!! After all this learning, they had a hard-fought trivia challenge. Thanks to all of our parent helpers who put on Science Club!

Thank you Life Church for spoiling our staff with a yummy nacho bar! We love when you come visit!

Students had a blast at their holiday parties! Big thank you to the room parents for planning and to the other parents who helped in any way! The 5th graders continued their yummy tradition of parents making breakfast! It was so good!

The 5th graders have an ongoing tradition of reading the book, Christmas Jars. It's a book on paying it forward with kindness and generosity. 5th graders had bubble gum sales that raised over $800! That money was divided into jars that were then given to four people in need. It was a heart warming event for all!

On the last day before break, students always participate in Family Traditions! Students rotate from Family to Family room to play games like Candyland, UNO, Hedbanz, puzzles, coloring, and Hungry Hungry Hippos! So fun especially when you get to wear your pajamas!

Here is a final reminder about the upcoming deadline on January 15 for the Teacher of the Year Nominations! Please consider nominating a deserving teacher today! Go to: https://www.sf.k12.sd.us/page/teacher-of-the-year-program Thanks for considering!

Students earned a whole school Zoom PBIS BINGO Party for earning enough tickets for good behaviors!! Way to go!! Everyone had so much fun!! Way to work hard!!

Students had a blast doing Drumfit this week in music with Mrs. Anderson!! What a fun way to release some extra energy and enjoy music!

Long lines and lots of success at School Store! Thanks for working the store 4th and 5th graders!!

We had our traditional holiday sing-a-long in family on Tuesday! Kids love belting out those tunes especially the 12 Days of Christmas when each grade gets a special verse and performs the actions! Thanks to Mrs. Anderson for accompanying on the piano!

Kids Care was on December 15 for the ACE 4th and 5th graders. They helped out at the St. Francis House, Miss Jasper's House, Ronald McDonald House, and assisted in making blankets for Project Warm Up. Volunteering is a positive way students can make a difference in their community! It is a great life skill to learn at an early age!

It was the first day of a 5 week chess tournament! Kids were excited to compete! So fun!

Last week, the 1st and 2nd graders had a vocal concert. They performed songs from Go Fish! Thanks for all of your hard work, kids, and to Mrs. Anderson, our music teacher!

Here are the High Flyers from last week! Way to be respectful, responsible, and safe! Proud of you!
