Today our Edison Student Council students delivered homemade May Day baskets to every Edison staff member and to the homes surrounding our school. There were lots of smiles from the recipients and just as many from the students delivering them.

Yesterday was one of our tried-and-true favorite dress-up days, Staff/Student Swap Day.
This one always delivers. Teachers lean in, students do too, and it’s just fun to see everyone switch it up for a day.
Safe to say it might be a favorite among the staff… possibly even more than the students.

Big congratulations to one of our very own, Mrs. Fogarty, on the opening of her art exhibit! We are so lucky to have such an incredibly talented and passionate art teacher at Edison. Her creativity and dedication inspire our students every day, and it’s so exciting to see this vision come to life. Mrs. Fogarty helped create an opportunity for Sioux Falls School District art teachers to showcase their own artwork, giving students a chance to see that their teachers are artists, too. Every child who will attend school in the Sioux Falls School District for the 2026-2027 school year must complete an annual update. This is required every year to ensure that student information, such as data privacy, emergency, and health information, is correct and up to date.

SD Assessment Testing will take place Monday, April 20 through Friday, April 24 at Edison Middle School. We will be using a two-hour late start schedule AFTER testing each day, but school will still begin at the regular time of 8:55 AM. Testing will begin shortly after students arrive, so being on time is very important! We appreciate your support in helping students feel prepared and confident. A few quick reminders: • Be on time (8:55 AM start) • Charge Chromebooks nightly and bring chargers • Bring wired earbuds (available in the office for $1 if needed) • Get a good night’s sleep + eat breakfast • Bring a choice read book for after testing • Cell phones and smart devices must be off and in lockers We are also accepting donations of gum or mints. Students can drop these off in the office before April 20. Thank you for your support! Let’s have a great week of focus, effort, and growth! We know our Edison CATS are ready!

Our Oceti Sakowin 8th graders earned a field trip to Augustana University on Thursday!

Students experienced music and film production, participated in hands-on science experiments, explored a variety of art exhibits, and toured campus. It was a great day of learning, exploring, and spending time together outside the classroom.

Thank you to our EMS Athletics PTO and every person who volunteered, donated, and attended our pancake feed! Together, we raised over $1,300 to support Edison Athletics-what an incredible show of support for our student-athletes!

Attention all 8th graders going to Roosevelt! Connections is a great opportunity for incoming freshmen to get a jump on high school. Students will learn the ins and outs of Roosevelt and earn 0.5 credits towards graduation (that is the same amount that you earn for a semester long class!). Start their high school experience off on the right foot by enrolling in Connections! Space is limited. (If you are going to a different Sioux Falls public high school you can use the same link to sign up, just click on your high school when it asks which school you are going to!)

🎬🍿 Today, our Team 7-3 students celebrated their hard work with the “Festival de Cortos Tigrillos” in Spanish Social Studies! In Srta. Rebollar’s class, students had the opportunity to watch each other’s short films while enjoying popcorn-creating a movie theater experience right here at school. The halls were filled with the smell of fresh popcorn, laughter, and excitement as students celebrated one another’s creativity and effort. What a fun and memorable way to showcase their learning!

The poster features bold text reading “Yearbook Cover Contest” with icons like a camera, pencil, notebook, and design elements. Information on the poster states the contest starts March 13 and ends March 23, with student voting taking place March 23–27. The winner will receive the front cover and second place will receive the inside cover of the yearbook. Entries must be 8.5 x 11, full color, and may use colored pencils, markers, crayons, or graphic design. Paint and textured materials are not allowed. Designs must include the school name and the year 2025–2026. Paper is available in the main office or counseling center, and entries should be turned in to Ms. Carly.
